To celebrate his 60th birthday on Friday, the NBA’s GOAT is making history by giving back.
Michael Jordan is making a $10 million donation to Make-A-Wish — the largest donation by an individual in the charitable organization’s 43-year history.
“For the past 34 years, it’s been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids,” Jordan said in a statement through the organization. “Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration.”
The all-time great has supported Make-A-Wish since 1989 and was named its Chief Wish Ambassador in 2008. He has granted hundreds of wishes to children over the years and is one of the organization’s all-time most requested wish granters.
“Michael using his birthday as a chance to make history for Make-A-Wish speaks to the quality of his character and his loyal dedication to making life better for children with critical illnesses,” said Make-A-Wish America president and CEO Leslie Motter. “We hope that the public will be inspired to follow in his footsteps by helping make wishes come true.”
The charity has set up a special donation page to honor Jordan’s birthday.
The Chicago Bulls legend has a net worth of $1.7 billion, per Forbes, and Nike’s Jordan Brand — from which Jordan pockets 5% of sales from — brought in $5.1 billion in fiscal year 2022.
