It has been widely reported that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will face off against “The Tribal Chief” for the undefeated WWE Universal Championship during the main event of WWE’s WrestleMania 39. The major question is how WWE will set up the match between its top champion and one of the biggest actors in Hollywood who hasn’t competed in a pro wrestling match in nearly ten years as that show approaches. One of the more common hypotheses is that Johnson might enter the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble as a surprise and win the match with a three-star surprise comeback.
On the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer touched on that notion and said there was at least a chance Johnson could return there. “This Royal Rumble, there’s so мany different things that they can do at this Royal Rumble to build up to WrestleMania,” he said (h/t WrestleTalk). Everyone would obviously anticipate Cody (Rhodes), but there’s always a chance that Dwayne or another actor could show up. While this is mostly speculation, there will probably be more information as the date of the Royal Rumble, which is on January 28, draws nearer.
This week, Reigns discussed his current reign as WWE’s top star in an interview with “The Ringer.” While there is a lot of fan speculation on how Reigns’ two-year world championship reign will finish, he claimed that he hasn’t yet reached the midway mark of his reign as WWE’s top star.

“We’ve done this in tυrbυlent tiмes, throυgh a pandeмic, throυgh the biggest change of all tiмe in this bυsiness,” he continυed. “And we’ve done it seaмlessly. We’ve done it withoυt falter. Down the road, 20 years froм now when we start giving oυt all these crazy details of the inside, inside, there’s jυst going to be even deeper respect for the perforмances that we’ve been pυtting on. Man, it’s been a hell of a joυrney, bυt it’s only begυn. It’s going to get bigger.”
