Stephen Dorff slams superhero movies once again and continues to express his disinterest in the franchise. He went viral for a comment he made in 2021 about the Black Widow film. According to Dorff, it looks “like garbage” and he feels “embarrassed” for Scarlett Johansson.
Now, the actor is back at it again with his cutting remarks. He is no stranger to Marvel films, as he once starred in the 1998 Blade movie. Dorff commented that he would only want to join a superhero project if it looks as decent as when they produced Blade. According to the actor, only a few were decently made in the past years, which includes Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.

Stephen Dorff Slams Superhero Movies, Says Marvel Can’t Make Another Blade
Speaking with The Daily Beast, Stephen Dorff called comic book movies “garbage” and said no one actually remembers them.
“But all this other garbage is just embarrassing, you know what I mean? I mean, God bless them, they’re making a bunch of money, but their movies suck. And nobody’s going to remember them. Nobody’s remembering Black Adam at the end of the day. I didn’t even see that movie, it looked so bad.”
The actor noted that cinema will thrive in the hands of upcoming directors like Eddie Alcazar, who helmed the film Divinity, which premiered recently at the Sundance Film Festival. Marvel is working on a remake of the Blade franchise to join the MCU. Dorff said:
“How’s that PG ‘Blade’ movie going for you, that can’t get a director? Because anybody who goes there is going to be laughed at by everyone, because we already did it and made it the best. There’s no Steve Norrington out there.”
Stephen Dorff also said that he will only do mainstream movies if they are good, and if he does not get hired in a role, he won’t be bothered. The actor also mentioned that he wouldn’t lose sleep if he did not get to be part of the ensemble cast of Oppenheimer. It looks cool, Dorff said, but unless he plays the lead role, he does not want to join.
